In May 2013, a new website called the Ministry of Finance's Money
Mountain was launched. Showing inactive Pension plans held by a person in
Israel. The reason the site got its name is of course, the billions of shekels
that lay and continue to lay in the insurance companies and investment
houses while no one is coming to claim them and the investment houses and
insurance companies continue to charge high management fees on them. In
addition to locating inactive provident funds on the site, it is possible to
locate bank accounts and provident funds of deceased relatives in addition to
canceled life insurances.
When searching for deceased relatives lost pension plans or bank accounts you are required the usual means of identification in addition to the date of death of the deceased as stated in the death certificate.
The site was a huge success and within two weeks 900,000 people entered it and used its services. And later it also had a follow-up site called the Insurance Mountain to receive the status of private insurance and car and apartment insurance.
As soon as I heard about the site, I collected the ID numbers of my grandparents who died several years ago, in addition to the ID cards of my mom and dad.
One by one I typed the data, repeatedly trying to get a result. It did not always work, but in the end after many attempts, I was able to type almost all of them. The result showed that nothing was found.
Dad said Grandpa was self-employed and saved nothing in a provident fund but I am a stubborn guy and I had to check.
I typed in Grandpa's data, ID + death certificate date, pressed the last key and held my breath in anticipation.
The screen showed that it was processing and showed me that the data was confirmed and in front of my eyes I discovered:
Altshuler Shaham - Provident Fund
I was so happy, I found lost money, I immediately called my father to tell him and explained that he should call Altshuler Shaham and check what it was about.
A few days passed and when I met my father on Friday, he informed me that my uncle Meir had arrived at the company's offices in Altshuler and they had learned that there were 14,000 shekels in a provident fund.
At the next family event, my uncle Meir shouted at me from a distance "genius", I giggled with pleasure, all I did was locate some simple data and type it into a computer.
I suggest you do the same, don't be lazy check for yourself 😊
