If you have a private health insurance policy with the surgeries section from before 2014, and you underwent an operation covered by public health insurance within the last 3 years, meaning you didn't invoke your insurance policy for the operation, you're probably eligible for financial compensation from your insurance company.
In addition to the fact that the older surgery coverage policies allow you to choose a private surgeon (up to a certain limit), they are cheaper than new policies, and cannot be worsened for example, they cannot exclude Covid coverage. In policies from before 2014, the insured is eligible for up to 50% compensation for the cost of the surgeon and anesthesiologist fees, even though the policy wasn't activated.
Newer policies (after 02.2016) don't include this compensation (in most companies), and provide a list of approved surgeons and hospitals included in the agreement (no ceiling).
